Welcome to Interweave Crochet

Welcome to the new Interweave Crochet! Our site officially launches September 18, but as a web designer that needs to test everything, I've taken it upon myself to give you a little preview of Kim Werker's editorial letter from her first issue of Interweave Crochet, which hits newsstands on, yes, September 18!

Don't be suprised to see this little post disappear!
Cheers, and enjoy!

Fall has always been my favorite season. Despite the growing chill and increasingly barren trees, I find it fresh and inviting--a new beginning, even more than spring. In many ways, it seems as if crochet itself is experiencing a rebirth. But as a look into crochet's past reveals the passion for innovation that today's crocheters express isn't entirely novel, even though its scope has broadened dramatically in the last few decades.

Looking ahead, I'm giddy to see where crochet will go in the near future, and I'm excited to travel around North America this fall, teaching about crochet, visiting local yarn stores, and meeting crocheters from all walks of life.

Comments:
In your editorial you ask for our responses to the symbol diagrams. I have worked with symbol diagrams before, mainly from patterns I got in Japan, and I definitely prefer them. Written instructions can sometimes be very unclear and filled with mistakes, but the diagram leaves nothing out. Right now I am working with a pattern from written instructions, and it is driving me mad. I wish I had a diagram to work from. So, yes, please include more diagrams. Once you get used to them, you will definitely prefer them.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened my KD today and read the latest posting of kitting vs. crochet. I recently aquired 3 balls of Zara cashmere and was unable to get the look for a scarf that I had floating in the back of my mind. So I picked up a how to book and am learning crochet. It's coming along just as I visioned. Thanks for the inspiration to proceed forward.

I am also a crocheter at heart...it just seems to be more sculptural. As for the thickness of the finished projects, I've found that tunisian stitch is sort of close to knitting because the stitches aren't open and it's more or less a single layer. It even curls up at the ends like knitting!

I do original projects crochet.
I want to give to you pleasure,
to draw your attention to the work.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

Love your magazine, love your blog - er, what there is of it. It's sort of not coming along as nothing has been posted since March. I hope all of you at Interweave Crochet are coming along well, as there is sooooo much buzz on the magazine as to what it is doing compared to the knitting side of the isle. We crocheter persons :o) are counting on you all to make your magazine number one. There are so many good designers "in there" and wonderful crochet personalities that we all "out here" know you'll be a smashing success! Give it some TLC!
